Best of the Highlight Reel: 2013-14

Another NBA season is in the books and wow, was it a wild one.

The things you thought you knew as a well read, educated basketball fan were thrown completely out of whack by December 1 and by the end, you probably gave up trying to make predictions.

The playoffs now beckon, but before we get all wrapped up in postseason drama that promises to throw us a few more curve balls, let’s look back at the best plays we saw on the highlight reel this season.

Dunk of the season: Paul George-Indiana Pacers

You might remember this one basically lit up Twitter like a string of Christmas lights and had everyone including us talking about cancelling the dunk contest, because no matter what the contestants did, it was going to fail to live up to this.

Block of the season: Thomas Robinson-Portland Trailblazers

Utterly nasty. When we saw this one and our hind parts quivered for a moment. If you’re a lover of defense in this game and somehow this one doesn’t get you out of your seat, you might want to check your pulse.

Assist of the season: Brandon Jennings-Detroit Pistons

There weren’t a ton of highlights this season for the Pistons this year, but this one proved to be one of their best as Jennings was playing at a high level at that point in the season and Andre Drummond, the recipient of this circus pass, was in the midst of his breakout campaign.

Trick shot of the season: John Wall-Washington Wizards

It’s been nothing short of an incredible season for Wall and the Wizards as they get back to playoff basketball for the first time since the Gilbert Arenas era tonight. Here is a memory their first round opponent, the Chicago Bulls, will have of facing him this season.
